George Kenneth Roohr

February 22, 1925 — March 8, 2023

George Kenneth Roohr 98, passed away in Logan Utah on March 8th, 2023. He was born February 22, 1925, in Colby Wisconsin, to George Christian Roohr and Alma Sumner. He later came to Utah where he met his eternal companion, Oretel Stirland. They were married on the 23rd of February 1945. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple.

They were blessed with 3 children. Stirland K. Roohr, Russell Dean Roohr and Leslee Roohr.

He served his country in WW-II in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a 2nd Lt. Flying Officer. He also served during the Korean War as a U.S. Air Force 1st Lieutenant. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served in the Logan Temple for 17 years.

George worked in road construction and mining after his military service. He spent the rest of his working years as a shop foreman for LeGrand Johnson Construction Co. He spent his free time golfing and creating many beautiful gifts for family and friends. George was a talented woodworker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers; also by his wife Oretel, daughter Leslee, son Russell and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Roohr.

He is survived by son Stirland of Sandy, Utah, 4 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his special “Lady Friend”, Frances “Tup” Fackrell of Providence, Utah.

A special “Thank You” is extended to Tup and her daughters, Kathy, Sherri, Stacy, Paula, and their families for being George's family and caring for him.

“At any rate”, a viewing from 1 to 2 PM will be held on Thursday March 16, 2023, at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E Center Street Logan, Utah followed by interment at Logan City Cemetery.
