Addie Hall passed away quietly Monday, March 12, 2007, while staying with her daughter, Suzanne Andrews, in Peoria, Arizona. Addie was 95 years old and had lived in Carnation, Washington for sixty-four years. She was born to Parley and Adelaide Dunkley on June 3, 1911, in Franklin, Idaho. She graduated from Franklin High School and later earned a degree in elementary education from Utah State University. On April 3, 1935 she married Charles Leness Hall in the LDS temple in Logan, Utah. Following his graduation from college, Leness worked at Carnation Milk Farms for several years, and then took employment elsewhere in the dairy business. In 1944, Leness and Addie returned with their family to Carnation, where Leness was employed as Sales Manager for Carnation Milk Farms.
Addie was a marvelous mother to her six children. She always ensured that they knew they were loved. She taught them high moral standards and stressed the importance of hard work and a good education. Her six children all graduated from Brigham Young University, and several earned advanced degrees. She was always happiest visiting her children and their families, whether it was a Fourth of July celebration in Carnation or Thanksgiving and Christmas in the home of a loved one. She always had a great kindness and concern for others, which she readily put to action. She will be well remembered for her compassionate service to the elderly and less fortunate members of the Carnation community. Throughout her life, Addie was an active member of the LDS church, and faithfully served in various auxiliaries of the church. After her children were grown, she taught first grade at Cherry Valley School, Monroe Elementary, and Carnation Grade School. Her husband Leness passed away in 1999, after sixty-four years of marriage. Addie Hall is survived by her six children: Brent Hall, Briggs Hall, Glade Hall, Suzanne Andrews, Drew Hall, Mark Hall, and their spouses, along with thirty-four grandchildren and sixty-nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Allen-Hall Mortuary on Saturday March 17, at 2:30 PM in Logan Utah.
