Our beloved mother, grand-mother, great grandmother and sister Afton Hamilton Poulter Dutson passed away peacefully on April 2, 2007 in the Beehive Home in Roy, Utah. Afton was born on 10 June, 1911 in Sugar City, Idaho to John W. Hamilton and Almina Sophia Winmill. She grew up in Sugar City learning how to work and to put her faith in our Lord and Savior. She was a very loving, caring lady with a love of Jesus Christ and his teachings. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She graduated from Sugar Salem High School and went on to Beauty College in Pocatello, Idaho. She served a mission to the Western States where she met and later married S. Ray Poulter in the Logan LDS Temple on 10 June, 1938. After daddy passed away, she went on another mission to Billings, Montana. After coming home she met and then married Eben Dutson on 17 March 1980. She held many positions in the LDS faith and enjoyed her callings as Relief Society President and Primary President. She worked in the Logan Temple for 15 years. She belonged to the Utah Daughters of Pioneers and enjoyed playing the Harmonica with the Oldies and Goodies throughout Northern Utah and Southern Idaho.
Her children are Renee [Dale] Allen, Clinton, Utah; Ray Poulter Jr., Logan, Thad Carl [Sue] Poulter, Garland, Utah. She had five step children as follows: Renee Kohler, Idaho Falls, LaRue [Hatch] Wilcox, Elaine McQuarrie, Logan, Rosanne [Brent] Womack, Nibley, Gayla [Arlan] Hovey, Millville. She has 8 grandchildren, Sterling, Camille, Stephenie, Janalyn, Shannon, Darin, John Ray, Laura and 14 great-grand children. Her brother James [Marion] Hamilton of St Anthony, Idaho, sister Doris [B.V.] Campbell, Palasades, Idaho. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her son John and a daughter Elaine, and five sisters, Reah, Edna, Ora, Belle and Rae.
The family would like to thank the Beehive Home and Hospice Alliance for the excellent care she received while living there for such a short time.
A public viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, April 7 at Allen Hall Mortuary located at 34 East Center St in Logan. Following there will be a private service.
