On Thursday, March 28th, at 8:10 p.m. Agnes Lenore Spence slipped peacefully from this life at Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah.
Lenore was born in September of 1925 to Joe B. and Stella May Ross in Sayre, Oklahoma. Early in her childhood the family moved to the Willamette Valley in western Oregon where she was raised and graduated from Eugene High School. After high school Lenore enrolled in nurse’s training at Sacred Heart Hospital to pursue what would become her life-long passion of working with and helping the sick.
In April of 1945 Agnes Lenore Ross and Paul Kay Spence were married in a civil ceremony later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They had two sons; Steven and David.
Being the wife of a career navy man gave Lenore and her family many opportunities to experience different places, peoples and cultures. Her adventurous spirit always helped to make these moves an exciting challenge rather than a painful uprooting. Once her family was grown, and Paul retired from the military, Lenore was able to continue with additional nursing studies where they lived in eastern Oregon. She also became very active in researching her family’s genealogy.
Lenore and Paul relocated to northern Utah, where Paul’s early roots were, in the late 1970’s. Upon his passing in 1979, Lenore was called to serve in the Logan Temple as an officiator. She served faithfully in this capacity for many years and cherished the many lifelong friendships she made there and in Cache Valley.
Lenore is survived by her youngest son, David, and his wife Bobbie of Kenai, Alaska, four grandchildren, Rory (Lolli), of Elko, NV, Brannon (Marrie) of Kenai, AK, Tonna (Matt) of Anchorage, AK, and Nicole (Dan) of Lehi, UT. Lenore also was soon to have ten great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joe and May Ross, her husband, Paul, and her oldest son, Steven.
Lenore was a very special daughter of our Heavenly Father, and we will all miss her special sense of humor of sometimes too candid opinions.
We love you Grandma
