Alan Kent Ohlwiler

Alan Kent Ohlwiler passed away peacefully at home of ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease) on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 in Paradise, Utah.

Alan was born in Logan, Utah January 7, 1944 to John Wendell and Edna Oldham Ohlwiler.
He graduated from South Cache High School. In 1969 he graduated from Utah State University with degrees in German and Math, and LDS Institute.

He married Janet Howells, June 5, 1970 in the Logan LDS Temple. She passed away November 27,2000 of cancer. Together they raised five children.
Alan then married Juliann Peterson in the Logan LDS Temple on May 31, 2002.

Alan farmed and had dairy cattle for many years on the family farm in Paradise. He sold the dairy cows and began work at the Cache County School District as a Bus Driver and then became the Warehouse Manager at the District Office. He enjoyed many special friendships over the years. He retired from the School District on December 31,2008.

Alan was well known for his pleasant disposition and hard-work ethic among his acquaintances and co-workers. Alan loved to spend time in his well-groomed yard and excellent garden. He also enjoyed working in his woodworking shop creating cherished gifts for his grandchildren.
He was active in the LDS Church all of his life. He served in many positions before his mission to Central Germany in 1964-66, and continued to serve upon his arrival home. He served as the Hyrum Stake Clerk and Hyrum Stake Executive Secretary. He also served in 2 separate Bishoprics in Paradise, Bishop of the Paradise 2nd Ward and a Counselor in a USU University Ward, He was a member of the Hyrum Stake High Council for six years until his health would no longer permit. He was thankful for those that he served with.

He is survived by his wife, Julie and his children: Marilee (Trent) Passey and grandchildren: Dallan, Gavin & Nathan. Tricia (Devin) Thomas and grandchildren Whitnie & Jayden, Brent (Mindy) Ohlwiler and grandchildren McKay, Tanner & Callie, Ryan Ohlwiler and Jamie (engaged to Neal Ackerman) Ohlwiler. Julie's children: Amy (Chad) Nielson and grandchildren Zachary & Bridger, Trisha (Brad) Northcutt and grandchildren Isaac & Samantha. Janet's parents, Del & Carol Howells, Julie's parents, Gilbert & Renee Peterson. He was preceeded in death by his first wife Janet, his parents, Wendell & Edna Ohlwiler and a brother, Wes Ohlwiler.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 19th at 11 :00 a.m. at the Hyrum Stake Center, 595 South 200 East in Hyrum, Utah. A viewing will be held on Friday, June 18th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary at 34 East Center, Logan, Utah. There will also be a viewing prior to services on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 at the Hyrum Stake Center, 595 South 200 East, Hyrum, Utah. Interment will be in the Paradise Cemetery.
