Aleen Olsen Smith passed away July 11, 2006, at Legacy House in Logan, Utah surrounded by her family. She was born June 22, 1929 to William Albern and Alice Vincey Twitchell Olsen at their home in Richmond, Utah. She married Farrell Danney Smith in the Logan LDS Temple on April 14, 1948. They were blessed with five daughters and one son.
Aleen spent her early years growing up and attending school in Richmond. She graduated from North Cache High School in 1947. After her marriage to Farrell they lived in Bancroft, Idaho, Richmond and Lewiston, Utah where she lived for over 50 years before moving to Legacy House in Logan, Utah.
Aleen was a mother and homemaker. She was a beautiful seamstress and sewed professionally as well as making several prom and wedding dresses for her daughters and granddaughters. She was a 4-H leader teaching many young girls how to sew, as well as several of her daughter’s friends. When her children got older, she worked at Orlo's Market, Talbot’s Market, Theurer’s Store and the Lewiston Drug Store. She enjoyed playing pinochle with a group of her lady friends for the past 50 years.
She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions. She loved music and was Choir Director for the Ward and Primary. One year she made hand puppets for all the Primary children and taught them the song, "Chatter Box". She served as Primary President, In-Service Leader and Cooking/Sewing Specialist in the Relief Society.
Aleen's family was very important to her. She leaves as survivors, five daughters and one son. Vickie (Ron) Watt, Judy Ann (Gerald) Smith, Sharron (Richard) Wood, Carol (Steven) Gordon, Wendy Nuffer, and Alan (Dondi) Smith, 28 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren. A sister, Rita Mae (Sherman) Olsen, sister-in-law, ReNee Olsen, brother and sister-in-law, Tate and Betty Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Farrell D. Smith, her parents William and Alice Olsen, a sister Beth Olsen, a brother Earl Olsen, her in-laws Loran and Benita Smith, a brother and sister-in-law Delmar and Edna Smith.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 15, 2006, at 12:00 noon, at the Lewiston 3rd and 4th Ward LDS Church, 16 South Main Lewiston, Utah. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Logan, Utah, Friday, July 14, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The burial will be at the Lewiston City Cemetery.
