Alex Daniel Gill

June 11, 1984 — July 29, 2023

Those that walk this earth for only a short period of time create moments and memories that impact our lives for forever.

Alex Daniel Gill walked his last moments on this earth on July 29, 2023 and was called home to go rest high on that mountain.

Alex was born to Danny and Elizabeth (Thomas) Gill on June 11, 1984, in Logan, UT. He was raised in Wellsville, UT which is where his adventures, stories, and love of the outdoors began. He was involved in any activity that included the outdoors from sports to fishing to hunting. Even though Alex had all these hobbies, he was so talented that he was good at them all and dedicated himself 110% to being the best. He thoroughly enjoyed doing these activities with his family and friends. He was also committed to earning every merit badge in Boy Scouts that he could and went on to receive his Eagle Scout Award. When Alex dedicated himself to something, he wouldn’t stop until it was completed.

Alex graduated from Mountain Crest High School in 2002. After high school he learned many trades and professions. He learned construction for many years, did ultrasound work for Northrup Grumman, and enjoyed his short time at Compass Minerals. For the last four years Alex was also doing taxidermy part-time which was something he was naturally talented at. He perfected that art and enjoyed bringing those trophies back to life for his clients.

The only seasons Alex knew during the year were hunting, trapping, and hunting. In the fall time he was gearing up for any big game tags he had, and if he didn’t then he would be happy to just go grouse or pheasant hunting. Then came winter where he loved to trap when the fur was good. Even though there would be feet of snow or frozen water, he would get it done. Then came hunting again, which was shed hunting. He lived for the springtime and would always say “no tine left behind”. He would travel from Utah to Idaho to Wyoming to his favorite spots and collect as many antlers as he could. During these seasons, he enjoyed having family and friends come along to teach them the knowledge he gained through the years.

Alex met his wife, Ambrie Jan Darley, at a gym in 2017. Even though they both went to the same high school, they did not know each other. Their enjoyment of going to the gym brought them together and more so the outdoor activities they have in common. Alex and Ambrie were married on August 8, 2018, in Hyde Park, UT. For the last five years they’ve worked together on building their future, enjoying the moments, and treasuring their memories along the way.

Alex will always be remembered for his hard work and love for his friends and family. He would do anything for his loved ones and gave all his energy to what he was doing. With the life that he lived, it came with some broken bones, surgeries, and other recovery along the way but as Alex would say “It’s not the age, it’s the miles” and Alex definitely had miles under his boots with everything he loved to do.

Alex is survived by his wife Ambrie; his parents Danny and Elizabeth Gill, Wellsville, UT; sister Meagan (Travis) Oltman, Perry, UT; nephews Carson and Jacson Christensen; nieces Aramie and Danielle Oltman; and extended family including friends that are considered family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

The family would like to thank everyone that has reached out to show their love and support of Alex. In lieu of flowers, Alex would have wanted you to spend it with your loved ones doing the things you love as he would have.
