ALFRED WESLEY TREMAYNE
Alfred Wesley Tremayne, 89, of Hyrum, Utah passed away April 16, 2007 at his home from leukemia. Alfred was born June 3, 1917 in Oakdale, California to Charles Howard Tremayne and Alta Mae Kenoyer.
Bud was educated in Oroville and graduated from Oroville Union High School. When he wasn't working in the family business he could be found hunting, fishing, or swimming. He was a veteran of World War II. Bud served with the Army Air Corp 109th Fighter Squadron in England, France and Germany as a communications teletype operator. He felt honored to be part of the troops that liberated the prisoners that were being held in the death camps of Germany.
After returning at the end of the war, Bud was married to Dorothy Juanita Hale on June 2, 1946 in Marysville, California. The two grew up together and Grandpa often said Grandma was a pest, since he was a teenager and she was the little neighbor girl tagging along. After being married a short time the two went into the grocery business, which they continued to do for the next fifteen years. Besides running the store, they also owned and farmed twenty acres of prunes, which was a good job to keep their four sons, and often foster sons, busy taking care of.
In 1967 Bud attended the Southern Baptist Golden Gate Seminary in Oakland, California.
He became an ordained minister in Kailua, Hawaii. He loved to preach God's word. Bud was a great example of not just preaching the word, but living it as well. This new calling took he and Dorothy to many places. They lived in Truckee, Concord, Linda, Sacramento and Laytonville California as well as Walker, Fallon, Gabbs, and Beowawe, Nevada, where he served as pastor.
A move to Utah came in 1984 , after visiting sons and loving beautiful Cache Valley.
After retirement he enjoyed working at Wal Mart, where he made many friends. Bud could be found almost any day fishing at Hyrum Dam or up Blacksmith Fork Canyon, which he loved, with his buddy Chuck. Grandpa loved to entertain grandchildren with stories of when he was young. One memory is of his first date at sixteen. His dad had a big four-door sedan. He and his date went to the dance but run out of gas on the way home. Bud remembers waking up the gas station owner and bought five gallons of gas for $1.00.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy and sons, Donald and Lynn Tremayne, Fair Oaks, CA., Alfred and Janeil Tremayne, Clarkston, UT., Robert and Judy Tremayne, Antelope, CA., and Mike and Ginny Tremayne, Nibley, UT and two step-sons, Ken and Mary Jo Strong, Las Vegas, NY., Walter & Kathy Strong, Modesto, CA. His posterity includes 21 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Elizabeth Vaughan and Helen Stone, daughter-in-law, Linda Tremayne and two grandchildren, Matthew and Ashley Tremayne.
