Anna Rae Allen Poppleton died September 24, 2024 at the age of 97. She was born September 14, 1927 at Grace, Idaho to Lorenzo Preece and Mary Ellen Calkins Allen, the tenth of thirteen children. Her family moved to Rupert, Idaho when she was five years old and most of her growing up years were spent in that area.

She married Russell Squires Poppleton in the Logan L.D.S. Temple on February 22, 1946 and they became the parents of seven children, five sons and two daughters. They were married 62 years before Russell died April 21, 2008. Forty-five years of their marriage was spent in Carmichael, California. They moved to Russell's boyhood home in Wellsville, Utah in 1989.

Anna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many church callings in all of the auxiliaries of the Church. She loved music and sang in many choirs and chorus', solos for funerals and church functions. She especially loved the music of the church and enjoyed leading congregations and choirs in their singing. She loved going to the temple every week, and was there last just three weeks before she passed. It was the last place she ever went.

She became an accomplished seamstress, learning much of the skill by sewing for her children and grandchildren and doing many alterations for family and friends. Her hobbies of crocheting, tatting, embroidery, knitting, and quilting have been enjoyed by family and friends. Some of her pieces are enjoyed in several L.D.S. temples.

Anna and Russell enjoyed family history and spent many years working together at the Logan Family History Center. She became the author of a number of books written about both her family history and of Russell's. They served a full time mission for the Church from April 1993 to October 1994 in the Australia Sydney North Mission. This was a highlight in her life. She made friends there that were a blessing to her the rest of her life.

Anna was an active member of the Peter Maughan Camp Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, she learned to know and love her many ancestors.

Anna wished to, and was able to, live in her own home until she passed. She loved the old family home and felt very safe on her corner in Wellsville. She failed rapidly the last two weeks, but had family with her at all times. She had loved ones that were privileged to be with her when she very peacefully passed.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Russell S. Poppleton; daughter, Ruth Poppleton Winkler; daughter in law, Connie Neel Poppleton.

She is survived by her children Russell Allen (Marla) Poppleton, Joseph W. (Tonja) Poppleton, Robert Allen (Jennifer) Poppleton, Dale Allen Poppleton, Lorraine Poppleton (John) Cherry, John Allen (Becky) Poppleton. Brother Lorenzo Preece Allen, Sister Alice Allen Spackman. She has 37 grandchildren, 83 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren. She has left a beautiful legacy to her family.

The funeral is under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary and will be held Friday October 4, 2024. Viewing will be from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Service at 1 pm. L.D.S. Mt. Sterling chapel, 48 W 1450 S, Wellsville, UT 84339
