Anna Powers

Anna Theresa Powers, age 83, passed away on Sunday December 25, 2016 in the Rocky Mountain Rehabilitation Center in Logan, Utah.
From her birth in Illinois, on Oct 5, 1933, to her death on Sunday she nourished people around her with love, faith, and family. She was born to Witly and Anastasia (Murray) Mitchell, and was the youngest of five children. Her family moved from Illinois to Southern California, and that is where she met her husband, Joseph William (Bill) Powers, Jr. Theresa’s charm won Bill over and they soon married on June 25, 1955 in Los Angeles, California. It wasn’t long until they had twelve children; close to the baker's dozen they always talked about. As they say, “It all started with a kiss.”
Theresa was active in church, both Catholic and later LDS, the kid's school activities, and interests. Always one to say, “God bless you”, and call you every year to sing Happy Birthday (with Cathy joining in). No matter what she was doing, you received her smile, and if lucky, one of her baby blankets.
Left to honor Theresa, and remember her love, are ten of Theresa’s twelve children; Cathy Powers, Anastasia Montejano, Michael (Trisha) Powers, Joseph (Lisa) Powers, Gerard (Stacey) Powers, Sean (Margie) Powers, Cecilia (Robert) Arroyo, Sharon (Wade) Smith, Chris Powers, Monica Powers; and son-in-law Luis, many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Gerry, Joe, George, sister, Mary Rita, son, Tim, and daughter, Mary.
Theresa will be remembered as a bright, shining light in the various communities and churches she served.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 9, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 451 South 250 East, Smithfield, Utah 84335. Burial will follow at the Smithfield Cemetery.
There will also be an Irish Wake (Open House) January 15, 2017 3-6 p.m. Pineda Residence, 13112 San Felipe, La Mirada Ca. 90638. 562-394-6252.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Theresa Powers requests that memorial contributions be directed to Cathy Powers 210 S. 300 E. apt. 23 Smithfield, UT 84335 to be used for funeral expenses.
