Annette Norman

March 28, 1919 — January 12, 2012

PARADISE UTAH
Annette Obray Norman, beloved mother, grandmother and friend,  died January 12, 2012, at Logan Nursing and Rehabilation Center, of causes incident to old age.  She was 92.  Annette was born March 28, 1919, in the family home at “Mitton’s Corner” in Paradise, Utah, to Ezra Horace Obray and Henrietta Price. She was the third of four children.  She had one brother, Preston, and two sisters, Virginia, and Connie.

Annette lived her entire life in Paradise.  Her father owned a farm, which included a small heard of milk cows, pigs and chickens.  She always loved helping her father on the farm.  When she was a little girl, her mother occasionally gave her an egg to take to the local mercantile store to trade for candy.  She recalled how sad she was when she dropped and broke the egg before she got to the store.

Annette married her childhood sweetheart and next door neighbor, Myron Norman, July 6, 1936.  They were later sealed in the Logan LDS temple.    They were married for 66 years.  Myron passed away in 2002. They had eight children: Carlyle, (little) Annette (Sherwood) Hirschi, Grant (Linda), Wayne, Dwight, Ruth (Roland) Leishman, Mike (Susan) and Suzy (Marty) Sanders.

Annette had great love for her children and sacrificed much for them.  One summer she picked pole beans, earning one penny a pound, until she earned enough money to buy a bicycle for her children.  This was the first bicycle the family owned and it (as well as memories of riding it) will always be treasured.

Annette has 43 grandchildren, 124 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She is loved and revered by them all.

Annette loved the outdoors and always kept a beautiful yard and flower gardens.  She was an outstanding housekeeper and an excellent cook.  She was well known for her delicious homemade candy, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and dinner rolls.  Her children and grandchildren loved to visit her on Sunday evenings and enjoy a piece of her delicious made-from-scratch chocolate cake.  Her husband Myron raised registered Quarter Horses and Annette loved accompanying him to flat-track and cutter race events and showing off the many ribbons and trophies the horses won.

Annette was an active member of the LDS Church and held many positions including Young Women’s president, Primary president, Relief Society counselor, as well as many teaching positions and ward
librarian.  She worked for several years as an officiator in the Logan LDS Temple.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings, and her daughter Annette.  Both her daughter, Annette, and her mother, Nettie, died on her birthday (March 28).

Funeral services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary and will be held Tuesday, January 17, at the Paradise 2nd Ward Chapel at 12:00 PM.  Bishop Paul Norman, her grandson, will officiate.  Viewings will be held at the mortuary, 34 E Center, Logan, Utah, Monday, January 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and at the  Paradise chapel, prior to funeral services, from 10:30 to 11:45 AM.  Compassionate service will be provided by the Paradise 2nd Ward Relief Society.  Interment will be in the Paradise Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Legacy House of Logan and Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the compassionate, loving care they gave our mother in her final years.
