Our dear Husband, Dad, Grandfather, Archie Maughan Darley, returned home to his Father in Heaven on October 30, 2007 at the age of 86.
He was born October 2, 1921 to William Gunnell and Martha (Mattie) Maughan Darley in Wellsville, Utah.
He was raised on the family farm where he learned the value of hard work and the importance of family.
Archie loved sports, including football, track and baseball, but his true love was fast pitch softball. He pitched successfully for many teams over the years, concluding his career by being inducted into the Utah Softball Hall of Fame.
Archie served in the Philippines during WW II, receiving many honors including the Purple Heart.
He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a High Priest.
He worked for 17 years at the DDO in Ogden and retired in 1968. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, and fishing. He also enjoyed singing and was a member of the Wellsville Church and Civic Choir.
He was dedicated to his community and had served on the Wellsville City Council.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirlee Stauffer; children, Marsha (Dean) Brenchley, Centerville, Utah; Brenda (David) Leishman, Wellsville; Cindee (Ross) Jensen, West Valley City, Utah; Elizabeth (Jack) Snodgress, Taylorsville, Utah; and Nanette (Scott) Davis, North Ogden, Utah; a brother, Reed Maughan Darley, Wellsville.
22 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, William M., John Lynn, Don Frank and Mary Joyce.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Wellsville Stake Center, 30 South Center Street. Friends and family may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan on Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and at the Stake Center on
Friday from 11:30 am -12:30 pm prior to services. Interment will be in the Wellsville Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion.
