Areva Chugg White

July 7, 1918 — January 22, 2007

PROVIDENCE---Areva Chugg White, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22nd of natural causes. She was born July 7, 1918 in Amalga, Utah. Her family moved to Providence, Utah where she spent the majority of her life. She graduated from South Cache High School and went to work at F.W. Woolsworth. On August 4, 1939 she married her sweetheart, George A. White, in the Logan LDS Temple.
During World War II they moved to San Diego, California where George worked at Consolidated Ship Yards. After the war they returned to Providence and George worked at Hill Air Force Base. Areva was busy raising a family of four; Georgia (Douglas) Christopher (Ken) Eames of Logan, Ronald (Florence) White of Hyde Park, Dennis (Kathy) White of Farr West, and Lynn (Tina) White of Carthage, Missouri.
George and Areva were dance directors for Mt. Logan Stake for many years and took many young boys and girls to Salt Lake to participate in dance festivals. They were also avid square dancers and enjoyed their dates with many friends at square dances.
Areva worked at the Logan Hospital for 19 years where she made many friends. She was active in several clubs including the LaDesa Club, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and she had many friends she loved very much.
George and Areva served as officiators at the Logan LDS Temple for many years, and at the St. George LDS Temple for ten years during the winter months. They enjoyed living six months in Providence and six months in St. George for many years and had fun wherever they were together. Areva continued the tradition for another ten years after George passed away.
Areva was an active member of the Providence 4th Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she has held many positions in the Relief Society, Young Women's and Primary auxiliaries. She and George were privileged to serve an LDS Mission in the Little Rock Arkansas Mission for 18 months. When they were released they traveled in their trailer throughout all but two of the United States.
She is survived by her children, 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; her brother, Lee (Joycelyn) Chugg ofSt. George, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband George; sisters, June Chugg, Phyllis Chugg, Theda (George) Smith, Mada (Budd) Lowe; brothers, Grant (Olive) Chugg, Nyle (Claris) Chugg, and son-in-law Douglas Christopher.
A viewing will be held on Friday, Jan. 26th from 6-8:00 pm at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E Center, Logan, Utah; and Saturday, Jan. 27th from 9:30-10:30 am at the Providence 4th Ward Chapel, 155 N 100 E, Providence, Utah. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11 :00 in the Providence 4th Ward Chapel. Interment will be in the Providence Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the Sunshine Terrace for the kindness and care they have given to Areva this past year.
