Arlene Parker Cooper passed away in her home peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on December 11, 2015. She was born on Jan 3, 1927 to Alton and Leora Parker. Arlene was the oldest of four children and the only daughter. She has three younger brothers, Deloy & Diane Parker, Paul and Darlene Parker, and Ralph and Marcene Parker.
Arlene lived in Wellsville/ Mt Sterling all of her life. When she was young she thinned and topped beets and helped with the hay in the summertime. After all that hard work she said it was always a treat to walk to Wellsville Dam and take a refreshing dip in the water. Also, every Friday night she would walk with her friends down to the theater in town and watch a movie. She went to elementary school at Floradell in Wellsville and went to High School at South Cache High in Hyrum Utah. Arlene graduated from high school in 1945.
Arlene courted her husband Eldon Cooper through high school and they were married for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS temple on May 15, 1946. Eldon had just returned from World War two. When Eldon was working nights at the cheese plant, Arlene would take Lynn up to the ranch with her so she could milk the cows, BY HAND!
Arlene and Eldon had three wonderful children, which they also raised in Mt Sterling Utah. Lynn (April) Cooper of Wellsville Utah, Nora Lee (Stephan) Hatch of College Station Texas and Clair (Julie) Cooper of Mt Sterling Utah. She was a devoted mother and wife, not only to her immediate children but also her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She always welcomed her family with open arms, and something delicious to eat. Arlene enjoyed homemaking where she excelled in cooking. Her home was always clean and you could always count on her to give you her opinion and advice. She would do anything for her family. Her priorities of church, family and friends have led to a lifetime full of service. Arlene has 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Arlene worked in the Albertsons bakery for 30 years. Following that, her and Eldon served a 14-year calling as Temple officiators in the Logan Temple. Arlene is a member of the Daniel H. Wells camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and has enjoyed her involvement and friendships with these ladies over the past 18 years.
We as a family have been blessed and honored to call her our mother. She was full of love and kindess and we are all better people by having her as part of our lives. There is no better example of selfless service and forgiveness than she was.
Arlene is survived by her two children, Nora Lee Hatch and Clair Cooper. Also by the above mentioned family members. Her parents, Alton and Leora Parker, preceded her in death as well as husband Eldon Cooper and son Lynn Cooper and one brother Deloy Parker.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 18, 2015 in the Mt Sterling Chapel beginning at 10:30 am. A viewing will precede the funeral starting at 9:00 am. There will also be a viewing on Thursday Dec 17 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Allen Hall mortuary in Logan Utah.
A special thank you to all the friends, neighbors, health care providers and member of her ward who have served Arlene over the years. We as a family appreciate all the acts of kindness and service rendered on her behalf.
