Arlene M. Garner passed away peacefully on June 6, 2009.
She was born November 23, 1930 in Hyrum to Lula Wright and Charles McBride.
She has two surviving brothers, Warren McBride (Trena) of Hyrum, and Reed W. McBride (Shirley) of Malad, Idaho. One deceased brother and his wife, Farrell C. McBride and (Peggy).
She attended Lincoln Elementary, South Cache High and Utah State Agriculture College where she studied Child Development and Elementary Education.
Keith J. Garner of Hyrum proposed to her on November 22, 1951 and they were married the following spring on March 6, 1952 in the Logan LDS Temple.
She lovingly raised six children, Rodney Keith (Carla) Garner, Hyrum, Lorna (Michael) Moss, Fielding, LuAnn (Sheridan) Petersen, Smithfield, Kathleen (Douglas) Bingham, Hyrum, Kevin (Teresa) Garner, Hyrum, and Gina (Andrew) Griffiths, Preston, ID.
She was taught by “goodly parents” and faithfully followed their example as she served in the Primary, Young Women and as VisitingTeacher in the Relief Society and Home Teacher, with her husband. She also served on the Old Folks Committee as well as in the Logan LDS Family History Center and Hyrum North Stake Family History Center. She was proud to be a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Cynthia Benson Camp.
She enjoyed crocheting, genealogy, embroidery work, rock hunting, socializing, flowers and her many collections, beginning with her cups and saucers. Her most treasured collection is that of her family, eighteen grandchildren and her eight great- grandchildren.
Arlene will always be remembered for her compassionate care and concern for others and the example and influence she has been throughout her lifetime.
On the other side she was embraced into the loving arms of her husband, Keith, whom she has missed dearly as well as her mother, father and grandson, Ray C. Garner.
She is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Rosa Lee Garner, JoLynn Andrus, Rose Garner and Lois (Garner) Smith.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 11th at 11:00 a.m. at the Hyrum 10th Ward chapel, 111 North 400 West. The family will greet friends and neighbors at a viewing from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E Center in Logan and an hour prior to services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church in Hyrum. Burial will be next to her loving husband in the Hyrum City Cemetery.
