Arlyn M. Brenchley, age 82 of Wellsville, passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2016surrounded by his family. He had recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was born February 23, 1934 in Wellsville, Utah, the oldestchild of Louis H. Brenchley and Alta B. Maughan.Arlyn attended grade school and junior high in Wellsville and graduated from South Cache High School. He attended Utah State Agricultural College (U.S.U.) prior to serving for the U.S. Army in Germany from January 1953 through December 1954.Arlyn married LaDaun Gunnell in the Logan LDS Temple on June 21, 1957. Arlyn had a career as a lineman and engineer with the Mountain Bell telephone company. He also operated a dairy farm in Wellsville with his father, son and grandsons. Arlyn’s life has been dedicated to serving his family and his fellow men. He was a charter member, and also served as the fire chief of the Wellsville Fire Department. He served on the city council for two terms and as president of the Wellsville Irrigation Company. Arlyn and LaDaun served as missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saintsin the Tonga Nuku'alofa Mission and at the Logan, Utah LDS Employment Resource Center. Arlyn served in numerous bishoprics as ward clerk. He also served as High Priest GroupLeader and as a Logan Temple ordinance worker. Arlyn and LaDaun loved taking trips to Yellowstone National Park and activities with family.Sitting in his chair in the backyard reading Louis L'Amour books and watching John Wayne western movies were favorite pastimes.He was adored by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They loved visiting and working with their Grandpa on the farm. He had a specialway with animals and they loved him, especiallyhis dogs. They often got to ride up front in the pickup with him. People in town enjoyed seeingthem travel to and from the farm. He treasured and looked forward to the many horseback trips he took in the Teton Wilderness with family and friends.Arlyn is survived by his wife LaDaun, their three children, Kim (Steven) Smith, Pleasant Grove, Utah; Blake (Sindy) Brenchley, Wellsville, Utah and Karen (Jerry) Johnson, Wellsville, Utah; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marilyn (Robert deceased) Froerer, Huntsville, Utah; Marie (Gail) Miles, South Ogden, Utah; Claron (Lee Ann) Brenchley, South Ogden, Utah and Gaylene (Brian) Haderlie, Rexburg, Idaho. Arlyn was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Clark Brenchley, Kylie Johnson (granddaughter) and Rebyl Erica Brenchley (great-granddaughter).
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Wellsville Stake Center: 30 South Center Street, Wellsville, Utah.Viewings will be held on Thursday from 6:00 to8:00 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary: 34 East Center Street, Logan, Utah and also on Friday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the meeting house. Interment will be in the Wellsville City Cemetery with military honors.
