Arnold E. Taylor

Arnold Taylor, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, loyal friend to many, passed away of cancer on May 26, 2009.
He was born in Fremont, Utah to Glen and Dorothy Taylor., he was fourth of fifteen children. He was educated in Wayne County school system. He then went on to Utah State University, where he played football for the university.
He received his master’s degree in the area of Economics. He was called to active duty in 1941 to serve in World War II. He was trained as a navigator, during his service in the military he obtained the rank of captain. He was stationed in many places, flying out of Iceland, England, North Africa, and Italy. He was awarded medals for the European Theater, Purple Heart, and one for honor and bravery. Arnold married Jaleen Savage on June 27, 1946, in the Manti LDS Temple.
After military service, his career was with the Farmers Home Administration for 40 years. He was the county supervisor in the Logan office and later became a district director covering the Logan, Tremonton, Ogden, Salt Lake City, Coalville, Roosevelt and Vernal offices.
He was active member in the LDS church all his life, and served in a number of callings, including various bishoprics and temple service.
He was a lover of gardens, (always sharing with the family and neighbors the produces of his labors.) He loved sports of all kinds especially football and basketball, he enjoyed going to the canyons to find wood for his wood burning stove. He was a hard worker in any task he took on and he taught his children the joys of hard work and a job well done, however his greatest love was his family.
Thank you for the memories of camping, traveling through the United States, the ice cream cones on Sunday from your three children. For the grandkids-the one on one times with him, the sleigh rides behind the truck at the farm, and the Lagoon trips which were so fun.
He is survived by his wife Jaleen and children Darlene Taylor (of Salt Lake City, Utah), Linda Rae and J.R. Stander (of Twin Falls, Idaho), Karen Taylor(deceased), and Douglas and Julie Taylor (of Kanosh, Utah). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-Faye Behunin, Berta Taft (deceased), Mel Taylor (deceased), Talmage Taylor, Blanche Brinkerhoff, Leo Taylor, Glen Devoy (deceased), Loma Blackburn, May Taylor (deceased), Dick Taylor, JoAnn Erickson, Malcolm Taylor, Hyrum Taylor (deceased), and Kay Taylor (deceased).
The family would like to thank various members of the Crockett Ward, friends, and Alpine Home Care and Hospice for their loving care and service.
Viewings will be held at the Allen-Hall Mortuary (May, 29 from 6:00 -8:00 PM and May, 30 from 10:00 - 10:45 AM) 34 East Center Street Logan, Utah. Funeral Services will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary on May 30, 2009 at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
