Arthur Andersen

WELLSVILLE, UTAH: Arthur J. Andersen, 88, of Wellsville died Friday, April 13, 2012 after a long period of declining health.

A native of Peoa, Utah, Art was the son of James John and Matilda Maxwell Andersen. He was born on July 15, 1923. Art was a veteran of World War II, having served under the command of Gen. Douglas MacArthur in the Sixth U.S. Army during the liberation of the Philippine Islands from 1944 to 1945.

After the war, he attended Utah State University and married Marjorie Rees Andersen in 1947. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake temple. The couple had five children.

Art worked at Morton-Thiokol from 1959 until 1973, at which time he became a full-time Jersey dairy farmer in Wellsville.

He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Art and Marjorie served two LDS callings in the St Louis -Missouri and Portland Oregon missions in the 1990s.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Rees Andersen of Wellsville; his brother, Lynn Andersen of Idaho Falls; his sister, Nila Northrup of West Valley City; three sons, Jim (Jaylene) Andersen of Wellsville, Steve (Lisa) Andersen of Smithfield and Mike (Michelle) Andersen of Nibley; two daughters, Patricia (Kelly) Call of Springville and Debbie Andrew (Charlie Schill) of Hyrum; an adoptive daughter, Gina (T.C.) Cuprak of Manderson, Wyo.; 15 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

A viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, April 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary on Center Street in Logan. Funeral services will be held at the Wellsville 1st Ward on Thursday, April 19, at noon, with viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. A graveside service with military honors will follow at the Wellsville Cemetery.
