Arthur Dale Jackson

Arthur Dale Jackson of North Logan, Utah, passed away on May 14 at the age of 84 in Ogden, surrounded by his family. He was born in Ogden on May 28, 1922, to Clyde W. and Lydia Kuhlmann Jackson. He was raised in Ogden and North Ogden, where he developed a strong work ethic and lived countless adventures on the family fruit farm. He attended the local public schools, graduating from Weber High School in 1940.
He attended Weber State College and Utah State Agricultural College prior to the beginning of World War II. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Pacific theater, retiring at the end of the war as a 1st lieutenant.
He returned to Utah and met his sweetheart, Bonnie Jean Harris.
They were married in the Logan LDS Temple on August 1, 1946.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Colorado College and began his professional career as an educator, teaching in the Weber School District.
Upon completing his master's degree from Utah State, he was appointed principal of Tooele Central Elementary School. He then returned to Logan as the principal of the Edith Bowen Laboratory School and as a professor of education at Utah State University.
He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1970, and following his return to Utah State served as the department head of elementary education. He was responsible for helping countless numbers of students become effective teachers and administrators and was well known and respected in the education community throughout the entire state.
His greatest pride and joy was his wife and family. Bonnie was his dearest friend and sweetheart, and together they enjoyed a special, loving relationship for over 60 years. She preceded him in death just five month prior to his passing. We take great comfort in knowing they are together again.
He was the loving patriarch of his family which consisted of four children: Clyde (Judy) of Farmington, Sue (John) Kellett of North Ogden, Dale (deceased) and Karen (Mike) Liechty of Providence. He is survived by 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Arthur was extremely devoted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous leadership positions, including branch president, bishop and high counselor. He was also called by President David O. McKay to serve as a member of the General Board of the Sunday School.
Together with his wife, he successfully served two missions, one in San Jose, California and the other in Hawaii. They had a great influence on the people they served and developed loving relationships that continued until the time of their deaths. He has blessed and influenced the lives of many people in countless way and will be sorely missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother LeRoy and sister LaVin Roberts, and is survived by two sisters Maurine (Ray) Stowers and Shirley McCormick, and sisters-in-law Gloria Rice, Connie Layton and Elaine Harris.
