Logan, Utah: Atella W. Richins, passed away, Wednesday, October 24, 2007 enjoying the outdoors and warmth of the sun with her children by her side.
She was born January 7, 1927 in Elba, Idaho to Frank Sandford and Matilda Ann Darrington Whitaker.
She graduated from Burley High School, Burley, Idaho.
She went to Evanston, Wyoming to help her sister Jennie who was expecting and there she met Ralph L. Richins. They began dating and married on May 10, 1947. They were later sealed on May 10, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many church positions. She was a Gleaner Teacher while living in Evanston. Atella and Ralph did many activities with these Gleaner girls.
She served as a Relief Society Counselor in her ward and stake, which she served at the Sunshine Terrace. She loved the outdoors, camping, walks, and family get-togethers.
She is survived by her two children: Sadie Richins and Kim (Kathy) Richins, both of Logan; a brother, Frank Wallace (Grace) Whitaker of Bountiful, and a sister; Thora Anderson of Parma, Idaho.
She has one grandson and a great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 29, 2007 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 East Center Street, Logan. A viewing will be held on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m at the mortuary and on Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Hyrum Cemetery.
