Avan L. Holmes

Avan left this world at the age of 82 on October 24, 2014 on his own terms by natural causes. He was born December 15, 1931 in Liberty, Utah to Robert F. and Sarah C. Holmes. He was the ninth of 13 children. He was a member of the LDS church and served an LDS mission in the north central states. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Cream o’ Weber Dairy after over 40 years of service. He was a farmer throughout his life and his favorite tractor to drive was Allis-Chalmers. He married Cheryl Jean Winter on August 11, 1952. He is survived in death by Cheryl, his wife, three kids, Merlynn (Dale) Hooper, Utah, Kim (Sue) Plain City, Utah, and Mitch (Carol) Liberty, Utah as well as his eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and two brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters. The family would like to give a special Thank You to Lil for all her help and support lately. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Liberty Cemetery.
