Barbara L. Edmunson

March 9, 1939 — May 14, 2024

Providence, Utah

Barbara Louise Edmunson

Born March 9th, 1949 in Rochester, New York to parents Herbert and Virginia Sinhoffer. Blessed as Barbara Louise Sara Sinnhoffer. She passed away May 14th, 2024 in Providence, Utah peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours after a valiant fight with Parkinsons and Lewy Body Dementia with her daughter by her side.

Her life may have started in New York, but it proved to have many adventures elsewhere around the world. Her family relocated to San Diego, California when she was 6 so her father could make sails for racing boats on the west coast. She lived there with her family attending high school and doing many things but finding enjoyment in sailing boats in the Ocean. Upon graduating High school she married Arthur Edmunson who would advance her adventures as he was be a Navy man. Because of the way she saw things, upon marriage she delightfully realized her given name was now Barbara Louise Edmunson Sara Sinnhoffer which spelled BLESS.

Her adventures with him would lead them to living in the Philippines twice. After Arthur left the service, they continued to work for the Government and the Navy as they moved to Ridgecrest, California to be near China Lake Naval Weapons Center. While Arthur worked for China Lake in Law enforcement, Barbara would work to become a Budget analyst for the base. She worked diligently for the Navy to save money, she worked just as hard for her family to see that they had as much love as they needed to excel in life. She also worked hard for herself going to classes to get herself an Associates Degree.

After retiring from the government they moved to West Jordan, Utah to lend a helping hand to their daughter Regina while her husband Gregg completed his degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. To further their adventures they then moved to Beaver, Utah. It was here where as a couple they would serve a very spiritual and rewarding mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at Cove Fort. After their mission, because she was retired,  Barbara was able to work diligently with Inmates at the Beaver County Correctional Facility to teach them sewing. She built many colorful and wonderful quilts. Many mornings she could be heard in her sewing room at 5am just happily sewing away to make these quilts. She liked to enter them at the county fair, where she earned many awards.

Adventures would continue in other places as they later moved to Eagle Mountain, Utah. Spending time with grandchildren filled their days doing many things for entertainment.

Later they would move to Euclid, Ohio to try to help Arthur with his ailments. Hoping the lower altitude would allow him to breathe better. Once Arthur passed, Barbara, having been diagnosed with Dementia several years earlier, moved back to familiarity and friends in Eagle Mountain. This time the adventure would be different. Her own afflictions would limit her adventures, but she was determined to find joy in every day.

With her Daughter and family, she moved to Cache Valley to continue her limited adventures and find new ways to be herself.

She is preceded in death by her parents Hebert and Virginia Sinnhoffer, her brother Alexander Sinnhoffer, her husband of 50+ years Arthur Edmunson. She is survived by her sister Kathleen Belmonte, daughters Denise (Roscoe) Workman, Regina (Gregg) Kamilar, and Sara (William) Hendricks, 8 grandchildren and 4 great granddaughters.

A Celebration of Life Viewing will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary June 2nd from 5-7 PM. A viewing will be held June 3rd in Eagle Mountain from 10-11, funeral services will follow. She will be interred at the Eagle Mountain Cemetary next to her husband.
