Barbara Jeanne Housley Rasmussen, 89, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in Logan, Utah. She was born September 21, 1929, the youngest child of Cyril and Nella Housley, in Brigham City, Utah where she was raised with her sisters, Helen and Carol and her brother, Mack.
Barbara developed a love for music at an early age. She was an accomplished pianist and taught herself how to play the organ and the violin. Her talents were a blessing to others throughout her whole life. Right up to her last day on Earth she could be found playing her favorite piano pieces for her friends at Terrace Grove.
Barbara had a wonderful personality. She loved people and drew others to her with her fun sense of humor and kind nature. Her stories and one-liners always brought smiles and laughter to those around her. She knew how to make everyone feel loved and important.
She married Howard Dale Rasmussen on June 4, 1948 in the Logan Temple. Service was always very important to Barbara and in their later years Barbara and Dale served for over 30 years together in the same temple where they were married. This was a source of much joy to both of them.
Barbara and Dale made their home in Logan where she raised her three children in a home full of love and laughter. There was nothing more important to Barbara than her family and she always went the extra mile to make sure that they had the things that they needed and wanted. She showed her love in many ways and her family and friends were the recipients of many acts of service and thoughtful gifts. Christmas Eve was always magical at her house, where she created wonderful memories for her children and grandchildren.
Barbara was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings in the church but was most often found behind the organ or piano. She had a testimony of and deep love for her Savior.
Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Pat Felt of Smithfield, UT; DeAnn (Trent) Sooter of Fairview, ID; one son, Kelly (Kristy) Rasmussen of Mendon, UT; seven grandsons, and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 1st at noon at the Hillcrest 2nd Ward chapel, 875 North 1500 East, Logan. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
A special thank you to the kind and caring staff and friends at Terrace Grove Assisted Living for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Barbara’s name to Primary Children’s Hospital.
