BELLEVUE WA: Barbara passed away on July 2, 2005 at
her home in Bellevue, Washington after a three-year
battle with cancer. Barbara was born June 30, 1947 in
Logan, Utah to Dale R. and Elizabeth Emmett Steed.
She attended Utah State University, where she met
Ronald O. Brown, whom she married on March 17, 1967.
In April 1973, after living in Burbank and Port
Hueneme, California, they moved to Anchorage, Alaska,
where they made their home and raised their four
children for the next 23 years. They moved to Seattle

Alaska in 1996. She enjoyed a successful career as an
office manager and comptroller, primarily in the
construction industry. She earned her Certified

Dean Architectural Products. Barbara was generous
with her time and talents, volunteering in several
professional, church and community organizations. She
served as an officer in local chapters of the
International Association of Administrative
Professionals, as a Cub Scout den leader and committee
member, and as a teacher and leader in her church
organizations.

Barbara enjoyed music and was an accomplished pianist.
She also enjoyed the beauty of nature, especially
birds and flowers, and was a member of the East Lake
Washington Audubon Society. As a grandmother of five
(soon to be six), she delighted in the artwork and
energy of her grandchildren.

(Toronto, Canada), Michael Ronald and Marnie Western
Brown (Kirkland), Jason Dale and Dayna Hatch Brown
(Bellevue), and Nathan Owen and Susan Gygi Brown
