Barbara Jane Hoffman

July 27, 1928 — March 6, 2012

Barbara Jane Nichols Hoffman 83, ended her time on earth and peacefully passed away and joined her sweetheart and eternal companion, on March 6 2012, from a long illness and causes incident to age, at the home of her son Kevin, in West Jordan, Utah.
She was born 27 July 1928 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo, New Mexico, to Otto Fred Nichols and Clara Nickerson Nichols. Two other brothers were born to this couple, Fred Otto and Don Nichols. After her parents divorced she went to live with her mother’s Sister, Aunt Maud Stuart who continued to raise her in Woodruff, Utah. She attended school in Woodruff and then South Rich High School in Randolph, Utah, where she graduated.
She married her high school sweetheart Keith A Hoffman, on Oct. 22 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. They acquired a ranch south of Randolph and started their life together. After Keith finished his tour in Korea, they moved to Logan to attend Utah State Agriculture College. On graduating they decided to make their home there in North Logan, where they raised their family of a daughter Becky Jane and a son Kevin Jeff Hoffman. Here they set up the “Hoffman AI” Artificial Insemination business, while still running his farm in Randolph. Barbara helped in the business and also worked at the Utah State University Book Store for several years, until she retired.
Barbara was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, holding many positions. She was also a Temple worker, along with her husband, in the Logan Temple.
She loved her family and family get together’s whenever possible and was the life of the party. She loved to crochet, sew, quilt, and crafts of all kinds. She made her home a place of beauty and made quilts, afghan’s and many treasures for her family and friends. An excellent cook and homemaker and companion. She also sold Tricot and Knit fabric by the yard for many years.
After their retirement she and her sweetheart enjoyed the winters in Mesa Arizona for several years where they made many new friends and loved those years. They also loved to travel and made many memorable trips.
She is survived by her daughter Becky (Don) Cook., of Cortez, Colorado. With grandchildren, Tyler (Michele) Smith, of St. George, Utah, Jason (Julie ) Cook, of Stansbury Park, Utah, Kelly Cook of Park City, Utah.
Also by her son Kevin Jeff (Holly) Hoffman and grandchildren, Rory (Shelby) Hoffman, Caitlin, Sydney, Rachel and Connor all of Utah. Also 7 great grandchildren. A brother Don (Josephine ) Nichols of Lyman, Wyoming, 2 sister in law’s Louise (Don) Hansen of Pocatello, Idaho: Floriene (Max) Moore of South Jordan, Utah. Several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Keith (2001), her brother Fred, and her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Saturday March 10th in The North Logan LDS 3rd Ward Chapel at 1850 North 400 East, North Logan UT.
The family will receive friends at the Church from 10:00 am before the Service. Interment will be in the Logan Cemetery following the services.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Allen Mortuary.
The family wishes to give many thanks and appreciation to all Medical professionals and friends and family who have assisted Barbara and the Family in any way. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a lovely lady.
