Berneice Holmes Lanier Bell

January 1, 1922 — July 15, 2010

Berneice Holmes Lanier Bell
Berneice was born on January 1, 1922 in Paradise, Utah, to William Holmes and Clarissa Pearce; she passed away in Draper, Utah, on July 15, 2010, the last of her brothers and sisters. Married Reuben Lanier (divorced); married Robert Bell who preceded her in death. Survived by sons David (Sandra) Lanier and John Lanier, seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Berneice traveled the world and saw things she only dreamed of as a child growing up in Hyrum, Utah. She has written and published short stories, poetry, and two books. After experiencing the war in Vietnam as a civilian volunteer, she worked to start an orphanage there for Vietnamese children. She loved and respected the Vietnam Vets.
She came from good stock, Mayflower Pilgrims and Mormon pioneers, and persevered through hard times as they did. Berneice never gave up; her motto was, "You don’t say whoa in a mud hole!" She always kept a quick wit and sense of humor.
Friends and family will gather on Monday, July 19, 2010 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 East 1800 North in North Logan, Utah. Graveside services will be held at the Avon Cemetery at 12:30 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
