Bertha Rae Lene Forsberg Bodhaine died Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Birch Creek Assisted Living located in Smithfield, Utah. She had been declining in health for several years. The family is thankful that her passing was very peaceful.
Rae Lene was born October 22, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the second of three children born to Herman and Bertha Forsberg. She received a name and a blessing in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on December 7, 1941, the very day of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Shortly following her birth, she, her sister, Janice, and her parents moved to Hyrum, Utah. Her brother Dewey entered the family in early 1947. The family would soon move to Smithfield, Utah where Rae Lene would complete grade school. Her family relocated to Logan, Utah where Rae Lene completed her high school education. She became an excellent roller skater and participated in many skating shows.
In the Fall of 1959, following her graduation, she married Glade Bagnell. In this marriage, she had two children, Leisa Marie and Gregrey Forsberg. The marriage ended in a divorce. On November 16, 1974, she married Larry Bodhaine and became the mother of his five children. Larry adopted Leisa and Greg. Rae Lene was a wonderful wife and mother to all seven children – Kathy Johnson, Leisa (John) Plocher, Steve (Cheryl) Bodhaine, Mark (Kim) Bodhaine, Greg (Lori – dec.), Karen (Chris) Wallace, and Kirk Bodhaine! On January 29, 1977, she and Larry were sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their children were sealed to them.
Rae Lene is survived by her husband Larry, her seven children, twenty-seven grandchildren, and thirty-eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law.
Rae Lene was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings including stake and ward Relief Society presidents, Young Women’s president and counselor, Young Women’s camp director, Nursery leader, and Cub Scout Den Mother. She and her husband, Larry, served as a mission president and wife in Ghana, Africa and Missionary Training Center president and wife in Preston, England. She served in the Los Angeles Temple and the Mount Timpanogas Temple. She was a great example to her family in her selfless service to many and her love of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
Services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Greenfield Ward Chapel located at 280 West 1200 North, Logan, Utah, with a viewing at 9:30am and funeral services at 11:00am. Following the funeral services, graveside services will be conducted at the Riverside, Utah cemetery.
