Fruit Heights - Bertha Kerr Price, 91, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011.
Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great-Great Grandmother, Bert Price, passed away from complications resulting from a fall.
Bert was born June 7, 1920, in Wellsville, UT, to John and Hazel Kerr. She was the third of six children. Being raised on a dairy farm, Bert learned to work hard at an early age. She milked cows, worked in the hay fields, and walked three miles round trip to town twice a day.
Bert married her school sweetheart, Robert Price, and they were together for 62 years until his death in 1998. They were blessed with four wonderful children: Dwon Morrison, Downey ID; Dale (Tressia) Three Forks, MT; Sid, Helena, MT; and Jean (Rick) Layton, UT. Bert was extremely honored when she was selected as "Idaho Mother of the Year" in 1961. Everyone who knew Bert loved her. She was kind and loving.
Bert and her family resided in Wellsville before purchasing a farm in Downey in 1942. Thirteen years later they decided to embark on a new challenge in Montana where they farmed for another 34 years. Bert worked from sun up to sun down during the harvest driving wheat trucks. She supported Bob in all of his many endeavors. She even drove piggy backed semi-trucks from Detroit. No one ever questioned Bert's driving skills! Bert and Bob believed in working hard and playing even harder. They both loved to travel during the winter. They especially enjoyed time spent in Arizona and time spent fishing in Mexico.
Although we are saddened by our loss, we are excited for the reunion of our parents and the family and friends who preceded her in death. Bert proudly leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bert's life at a viewing being held Sunday, December 18, in the L.D.S. Chapel located at 901 South Mountain Road, Fruit Heights, UT, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. She will also be honored at a funeral service on Monday, December 19, in the Allen-Hall Mortuary located at 34 East Center Street, Logan, UT, with a viewing at 10:30 a.m. and the services beginning at noon. Interment will be in the Wellsville City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at
