LOGAN, UTAH: Our dear wife, mother, and grandmother, Bertha Marie Luthy Harris, passed away on October 31, 2008 at the age of 87 in Logan, Utah.
Bertha was born May 19, 1921 in Logan, Utah to Emil August and
Bertha Marie Dinkleman Luthy. Her mother died shortly after her birth, and later her father remarried Freida Miller. Before long their small family was blessed with many wonderful brothers and sisters whom she grew to love and appreciate.
She married Oliver Wesley Harris on July 17, 1940 in the Logan Temple and enjoyed 68 years of marriage to her sweetheart. Together they raised three sons and six daughters. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Bertha served faithfully in many callings. She and Wesley were called as missionaries to the Canada Winnipeg Mission from 1986 to 1988 and afterwards served in the Logan Temple for ten years.
Bertha was a hard worker and had many talents with which she was most generous. One of her greatest was appreciating and serving those around her, especially her family and neighbors. She had a true gift for growing things and loved to share with others the vegetables from her garden. She spent countless hours sewing for her children and cooking for church and PTA activities. She loved being around people, and because of her warmth and kindness, made friends easily. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband, Wesley, and their children:
Thomas Harris, Jerry (Myrna) Harris, Jean Smith, Joan (Ronald) Fowler, Susan (Grant) Schmidt, Marie (Thomas) Schulz, Richard (Lorrain)Harris, June (Mondell) Anderson, and Julie (Max) Arcia, 45 grandchildren, and 45 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters and brothers: Golda Keysor, Flora Carson, Elizabeth (Betty) Cressall, Eleanor Ashcroft, Linda Forsberg, Melvin, David, and Howard Luthy.
She was preceded in death by her brother August, sister Ruth, grandsons Steven Smith, David Schmidt, and Joseph Mark Harris, and daughter-inlaw Anne Nyman Harris.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Noon at the Logan 13th Ward LDS Church, 195 South 100 East. Friends may attend a viewing at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan, Utah on Friday, November 7, 2008 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday,
