HYRUM, UTAH - Bessie Echols Herbert Trout, age 99 of
Hyrum passed away peacefully in her sleep the way that
she desired to on Friday, April 11 at her home. She
has finally made it to her long awaited reunion and
graduation into the next life.
Bessie was born in Mexico on Jan. 27 1909. Her
parents were Geogiana Blair and Benjamin Echols.
Grandma was very active in the LDS Church and the
business world. She served in the Stake Relief
Society, Primary, and Young Women presidencies. She
also served as a Stake Missionary. She was a real
estate agent, broker, and an accomplished artist. She
has traveled around the world numerous times.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great
grandmother and friend. She had a strong testimony of
the gospel and an example of her faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands
Ervin Herbert of 65 years and Leonard Trout of 6 ½
years, nine siblings, her daughter Fay Trout, her
grandchild Mike Trout, great grandchildren Ty
Widerburg, Garrett Trout, Josh Herbert, John Herbert,
and James herbert.
She is survived by her two children Chet Herbert and
Doris Enderle. Grandchildren Tracy Herbert, Doug
Herbert, Heather (Mike) Benetti, Claudia Gibson, Lenay
(Scott) Cottrell, Mark (Radelle) Trout, Ellen (Ed)
Barrett, Diana (Dean) Miller, Patricia (Rett)
Widerburg, Tina McMullin, Dave Enderle, 31 great
grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
We will miss taking rides with her in her golf cart,
her strong testimony, love to read and her
exceptionally quick and witty mind that she maintained
up to the end of her earthly existence.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday,
April 14 at the Hyrum 15th Ward Chapel, 100 South 450
East in Hyrum. There will be no viewing prior to the
services. Interment will be in the Hyrum City
