Beth Smith Dunkley

September 20, 1924 — February 5, 2009

RIVER HEIGHTS, UTAH: Our devoted wife and loving mother, Beth Smith Dunkley, 84, returned home to her loving Heavenly Father on February 5, 2009 in Ogden, Utah.
Mother was born September 20, 1924 in Preston Idaho, to Wilford and Terese Smith. She attended schools in Preston and later attended Utah State University. She married Blaine Wilford Dunkley in the Logan Temple, June 19, 1946. Mom and Dad have been blessed with 63 wonderful years together and five beautiful children. She loved spending time with her family and friends who were most dear to her. Many family gatherings were enjoyed in Mom and Dad's backyard. She also loved raising flowers, gardening, canning, sewing, cooking and making dolls.
One of her greatest loves was music, she was an accomplished violinist and played for over 60 years. She was also a member of the Utah Daughters of Pioneers. Soon after she moved to River Heights she helped create a Literary Club with women from the neighborhood. It has been going strong for fifty years.
She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many church callings in the different auxiliaries. Mom and Dad served two missions in Fresno California working with the Laotian people, who they dearly loved. They enjoyed a church-service mission at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building where they made lifelong friends. Mom and Dad also served as Temple officiators in the Logan Temple. Their church service has been a great example in our lives.
Beth is survived by her husband Blaine Wilford Dunkley of River Heights, Utah; and her children Julie (Jay B.) Low, Craig (Cindy) Dunkley, Kent (Teri) Dunkley, all of Providence, Utah. Kevin (Lisa) Dunkley of Santa Clara, Utah and Jan (Paul) Allen of Kaysville, Utah. Mom and Dad have 26 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Ruth (Ariel) Thomson of Logan and a brother Richard (Sydney) Smith of Grand Junction, Colorado and a brother-in-law Claude Turner in Syracuse. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilford Smith and her mother Terese Thomas Smith, her brother, Mark Smith and sisters Gwen Johnson, Marian Pond and Deanne Turner.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 10, at the Providence Stake Center, 800 S 600 E, River Heights. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 PM on Monday evening at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan, and from 10:30 to 11 :30 a.m. on Tuesday prior to services at the church.
