LOGAN, UTAH: Betty T. Daines, 87, of Logan, passed away on June 20, 2012 in Logan. She was born on August 12, 1924 in Salt Lake City to Charles Edward and Leatrus Turner. She attended school in the Granite School District. After graduation she attended the University of Utah and graduated from the School of Nursing at the Salt Lake County General Hospital.
She married Merrill C. Daines on her 20th Birthday in August 1944.
Betty worked with her husband for decades to improve healthcare in Cache Valley. She served as a first aid instructor for many years. She also taught medical self-help classes for several years. Betty worked with Merrill to help vaccinate school children and immigrant workers in the valley. She served as PTA President and secretary at the Adams Elementary School. She was President of the Cache County Medical Auxiliary. Betty is a member of the Logan Rotary Club, Old Main Society at USU, lifetime member of the Tri Delta and a member of the Study Guild. Betty has been a volunteer at the Logan Regional Hospital and served as volunteer president.
She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has served in many positions and loved teaching. She loved her visiting teachers.
She is survived by her husband, Merrill C. Daines, four children, Dianne (Dilworth) Strasser; Merrill Jr. (Connie) Daines; Karen (James) Wood; David (Maribeth) Daines, 19 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:00 pm in the Logan 9th Ward chapel, 100 East 500 North. There will be a viewing held Friday evening from 6-8 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and at the church on Saturday from 10:30 - 11:30 am. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
