Betty Elaine Hart (Karloff), passed away on August 2, 2024, in North Logan, Utah, at the age of 80. Born on January 17, 1944, in Wahoo, Nebraska, Betty was known for her vibrant spirit and love for life.
Betty's early passion for athletics shone through during her high school years as a talented volleyball player. Her support for sports continued throughout her life, especially for Utah State and Nebraska teams, enjoying women's softball, volleyball, gymnastics, and men's football and basketball.
Betty served Utah State University for 17-years in the role of Athletic Director Executive Assistant.
Her adventurous spirit led her to travel the world, with memorable visits to Paris, the Caribbean, England, Alaska, and Mexico. Despite her global adventures, she held a special affection for Stanley Basin, Idaho, and the Bighorn Crags.
Betty was particularly proud when she was asked by Ralph Edwards to appear on the TV show "This Is Your Life" in the late 1950s in support of high school friend Karen Rogers who was in the Iron Lung.
Above all, Betty cherished her family—her three sons, their wives, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her beloved animals, especially Harley, her dog. She will be remembered for her strength, compassion, and love for her family, her flair for "Bling and Glamma," and her enjoyment of activities like babysitting, antiquing, "waffles on wheels", and the many meals with family and friends at Angie's (“Where the locals eat”).
Betty is survived by her three sons David Mumm (Christine), Michael Mumm (Keri), and Judd Patterson (Jillian) and her sister Mary. Her Grandchildren Makena (Jordan), Madison (Karl), Kenadee, Taylor, and Harper. Her great grandchildren Miles, Journi, and Peyton. She was preceded in death by her parents Francis (Babe) Karloff and Marie Karloff.
The Family would like to thank Allen-Hall Mortuary and her special friends: Jane Harston, Terri Walk, Patience & Don Fisher, and her friends that passed before her Agnes Spence, Roscoe Weston, Stan Cazier, and Lynn Spindler and more…too many names to mention.
Some of Betty’s favorite quotes: “Nothing comes to pass by sitting on your a…”, “Whatever your are…be a good one”, “Let’s put some Mela-gel on that” and “Set to Jet”.
A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held on Friday, August 9, from 10 AM to Noon at the Middle Pavilion Lion's Park, 605 E Center, Hyde Park, Utah. Her life's joy and warmth will be remembered by all who knew her.
