LOGAN, UTAH: Betty Young Kaae, 89, passed away at her daughter's home in Mendon on, March 21, 2011. Betty was born April 21, 1921, in Logan, Utah to Einar and Ruby Young. She was the third of fourteen children. Being the oldest daughter she learned early on the value of hard work.
Betty married Edwin N. Kaae on February 14, 1946. They resided in Logan, Utah, where they raised three sons and one daughter. Her husband, Edwin, passed away in 1994.
Betty's favorite past-time was crocheting doilies, which she enjoyed giving away to family and friends. Betty was able to crochet up until her passing. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed her visits from Judy Meyrick, Leann and Brent Olson; dear friends who came to visit often brightening her day.
Grandma loved to spend time with her grandchildren. The grandchildren enjoyed visiting Grandma, receiving hugs, and getting the special treats she kept just for them.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, three sisters, and one grandson.
Betty is survived by her four children, David (Sherry) Kaae, Logan, Sheila (Dennis) Jensen, Mendon, Dennis Kaae, Logan, Steven Kaae, Lovelock, Nevada; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Betty has always been active and enjoyed being a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 7 where she served in many positions. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles where she served as the Madam State President. She enjoyed her association with the friends that she met while serving in these organizations.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Strong, the Mendon 2nd Ward for providing the luncheon, and all the many people that have touched Betty's live for good.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 25, at 11 am in the Logan City Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan, and on Friday morning from 9:30-10:30 am. Condolences may be extended to the family by visiting
