Betty Maria Jorgensen Christiansen arrived at her Heavenly Home on January 25, 2009, after 83 years of loving and serving others.
Mother, grandmother and sister, we will miss you, but your life was an example that we will strive to live up to, because we know that "Families are Forever."
Betty was born on October 17, 1925, in Ogden, Utah to Hans Wilford and Esther Elease Barrett Jorgensen. Her father died when she was only 6 years old. They later moved to Logan to help out her grandparents. She married Sidney
Christiansen on April 17, 1943 in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
Betty had the gifts of charity, understanding, and empathy,
was talented in many areas and shared her talents with others. She always had beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. She loved to cook from bread to chocolates, and could sew anything from jeans to wedding dresses but especially loved to quilt. She was a member of what started as a sewing club in River Heights that met together for over 50 years. She enjoyed being together with family; boating, hunting, or camping, and loved big family gatherings on the patio. She devoted her life to her family.
Betty was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Young Women President, Primary President, scouting, and extraction. She was always a faithful visiting teacher and good neighbor.
She lived in the house that Sid built until she could no longer do it all herself. She then moved in with her daughter, Marian.
Betty is finally reunited with her eternal sweetheart and husband, her two sons, and her mother and father.
Betty and Sid raised a family of five boys and two girls. Pat (Judy), Boyd-deceased (Karen), Larry, Rex-deceased, Lynn, Marian Olson, and Susan Larson (Brent). She is survived by 21 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and sisters Joy Pitcher (Dennis) and Velate Callicott (Jerry); as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at the River Heights 1st ward Chapel on 800 S 600 East on Friday, January 30, at ll a.m. Viewing will be held at
Allen - Hall Mortuary at 34 E Center Street in Logan on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the Church on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Burial will be at the Providence City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Hyldahl and Dr. Boston who were so compassionate with Betty.
