Beverly Gean Williams Dixon

1930 ~ 2012

Beverly Gean Williams Dixon, 82, of Logan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at her home in Logan, Utah. She was born on June 7, 1930 in Kemmerer, Wyoming to Albert James and Edna Rose (Hirschi) Williams and grew up in both Kemmerer and Provo, Utah.

On August 31, 1951, she married her eternal companion, Darrel Quayle Dixon in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Beverly attended Brigham Young University and worked as a telephone operator to support her husband through school. As a devoted wife and mother, she dedicated her life to raising her children as the family lived in several locations throughout Utah, eventually establishing their permanent home in Logan, where her husband taught at Logan High School Seminary for many years. She didn’t have a chance to graduate from seminary herself while in high school and as an adult worked hard to receive a graduate certificate from the LDS Institute, setting an example for her posterity. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and supported Darrel faithfully in his church leadership callings.

Beverly worked for many years in various positions at First Security Bank in Logan and developed deep and lifelong relationships with co-workers and customers. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to various places especially annual visits to Yellowstone. After retirement the couple became “snowbirds” with summers in Logan and winters in Mesa, Arizona, spending quality time with children living in both states. Beverly will always be remembered for her beautiful embroidery work, exquisitely manicured fingernails, passion for BYU Football and the Utah Jazz, her classy and polished demeanor and extreme devotion to family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Darrel, and her parents and two brothers (James Kenneth and Newell Clyde Williams) and is survived by her five children - David Q. Dixon (Julie); Diane Clark (Lane); Matthew J. Dixon (Kim); Reed W. Dixon (Wendie); and Nancy Chapman (Bryan); 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grand children and 3 great-grandchildren on the way. A viewing will be held Friday, October 19th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center Street, Logan; and also prior to the funeral on Saturday, October 20th, at the Logan LDS 7th Ward, 565 East 100 South, Logan; at 9:30 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am at the Logan LDS 7th Ward. Interment will be at Logan Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Perpetual Education fund of the LDS church. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.allenmortuaries.net .
