Hyrum, Utah---Beverly Joyce Brown Jorgensen, beloved wife, mother, and friend passed away at her home on Thursday February 27th, 2014, one week after her 87th birthday.
She was born February 20, 1927, in Hyrum, a daughter of Bert James Brown and Melva Larsen Brown, the second child in a family of five, comprised of three brothers and one sister. She graduated from South Cache High School and attended Utah State University. During World War II Beverly worked at the Army Depot on Second Street in Ogden as a typist for a military newspaper. When the war was over, she married Howard E. Jorgensen on August 20, 1946 in Logan, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They had three children: Annette, Pamela and Randall. Although her chief occupation was wife and mother, she enjoyed the years that she worked at Hyrum Drug. There she made many good friends and sold a lot of penny candy to the little kids who came in after school. Beverly was an excellent mother and homemaker who took pride in her house and yard. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting and made many beautiful items for her family and friends. She was famous for her Swedish tarts which she made every Christmas and for other special occasions. Her yard was always well cared for and the red geraniums that filled the front planter were always beautiful.
Beverly was a member of the LDS Church where she served as a teacher and pianist in the primary, was active in the Relief Society and was a member of the Hyrum 1st Ward Old Folks Committee. She was a member of the Cynthia Benson Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Surviving are two daughters and one son: Annette and husband Carl Ray Jensen of Providence; Pamela and husband Dan Bankhead of Providence; Randy and wife Rosemarie Jorgensen of Paradise. Also surviving are grandchildren: Katherine Jensen; Jennifer and John Cardis and son Kyler; Justin and Becky Bankhead and daughter Alyssa and newborn son, Ian; Curt and Tandie Bankhead and son Greyson; Zac and Alexa Phipps; and Greg Jorgensen; brother, Cordell Brown and sister Dolly Martinsen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, grandson Erik Jorgensen, brothers Courtney Brown, and Bert L. (Buzz) Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Monday March 3, 2014, in the Hyrum 6th Ward chapel, 600 South, 200 East in Hyrum with Bishop Chad Clawson conducting. Friends may call Sunday evening, March 2, from 6 to 8 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary; and Monday morning, March 3, from 10:30 to 11:30 at the church. Interment will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery.
