On the morning of July 12th Charles William “Bill” Jones, 71, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family after valiant battle with cancer.
Bill was born July 17, 1942 in Salt Lake City to Charles and Irene Jones. He graduated from Granite High School where he met and married his high school sweetheart Diane Brown. They were married on June 8, 1961.
They lived in Sandy where Bill served in law enforcement for 20 years. After retiring he moved his family to Cache Valley, settling in Lewiston and later moving to Hyde Park.
He owned and operated The Clean Spot in Logan, Utah. He took great pride in his business and put a lot of time and energy into making it successful.
Although he accomplished many things professionally, his greatest success and treasure was his family. He and his wife Diane enjoyed spending all of their time with their grandchildren. Whether it was fishing trips, breakfast at McDonald’s, attending ball games, or spending their Friday nights having all the grandkids over… they enjoyed every minute together.
Bill was the most dependable and loving man you would ever meet. He was never more than just a phone call away. He would drop anything to be there for his family. There will never be a better grandpa than he. His grandchildren loved him so much and enjoyed being with him as often as they could.
One of his greatest desires was to go skydiving. He was able to jump from a perfectly good airplane at 12,000 feet last summer with his family by his side.
Bill was a very devoted husband. He spent the last 40 years taking care of his wife Diane. He was by her side through all of her health trials and loved her dearly.
His heart was broken 3 months ago when he lost his wife of 52 years. We can only imagine their joyous reunion.
Bill is survived by his children, Cory (Jenifer) Jones, Heber City, April (Brent) Sorenson, Smithfield, Erica (Eric) Lundahl, Smithfield, Katy (John) Ashworth, Chicago. His grandchildren; Collin, Dalton (Ashley), Caden, Hunter, Kellan, Conner, Carson, Nash, Ryder, Skye, Olivia, Dillon and Hudson. His sister, Nancy Willis, Salt Lake.
He was preceded in death by his wife Diane. His parents, and sister Janene.
