Brenda Woodward

January 28, 1956 — August 12, 2013

WELLSVILLE, UTAH: Brenda Walker Parkinson Woodward , 57, finished her earthly life on August 12, 2013, after an 8 year battle with cancer. She is now free of all her aches, pains, and physical challenges.
Brenda was born in Logan, Utah, on January 28, 1956, to DeVon Christiansen Parkinson and Dora Myers Walker. She was the first of seven children. She grew up in a loving home and learned many wonderful things from her parents’ great example.
She went to Elementary School in Wellsville, Utah, to South Cache Junior High, and to Sky View High School. She met and fell in love with Frederick G. Woodward and they were married February 1, 1974, and were sealed in the Logan Temple on their first anniversary. They lived most of their lives in Wellsville, Utah. They were blessed to be the parents of five special children. They now have fourteen wonderful grandchildren, with one more on the way.
Brenda had a home daycare and cared for many, many children during her 30 years of daycare. She loved them all and many of those children came to daycare long enough to seem like part of our family.
She served many years in Primary, Cub Scouts, Activities Committee, Scout Committees, and a little while in Relief Society and Young Women’s. She was also a Visiting Teacher most of those years. She loved serving others and it was hard for her to learn to let others serve her these last few years. Her family and her testimony of the church and her relationship with the Savior were her most priceless possessions.
Brenda is survived by her husband and best friend Fred, her children Amy Price (Corey) of Tooele; Jason Woodward (Mumbi) of Boston, Massachusetts; Lisa Sorensen (Chris) of College Ward; Jeremy Woodward (Shannon) of Hyrum; and Bryan Woodward (Candice) of Wellsville. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Jared, Steven, Connor, Walker, and Carey Price, Danny Woodward, Riley, Austin, Brenna, and Jaxon Sorensen, Braden Helquist, Landen, Jaren, and Nixen Woodward. She is also survived by her parents, her siblings Elaine Muir (Gary), Gayle Goode (Kavin), David Parkinson (Sherylyn), Carol Goode (Craig), Kathy Holt (Niel), and Robert Parkinson (Kelly) and a very big extended family. She is also survived by her other mother, Barbara L. Woodward. Brenda and her husband Fred have lived with her for 6 years to help her and her husband, the late John Fred Woodward. That was a very choice experience for her.
We would like to thank Dr. Ali Ben-Jacob and his loving staff who took care of her so well during 7 and ½ years of chemotherapy. She has missed them and all her friends who came on Wednesdays.
We would like to thank the caring staff at the Primrose Home Care and Hospice for their love and concern during Brenda’s final days.
We would also like to thank Roger Welsh and those on the board of Cache Valley for Hope Cancer Foundation and all those who make contributions to this great cause. They have helped with so many of our family needs during the last few years.
We would also like to thank One Wish Inc. and all the wonderful women on their board for the kindness they showed her and for the wish that they granted of a trip to San Diego with her husband and her parents. We would also like to thank those who donated money for this wish to be granted.
In lieu of flowers, we would suggest donations to one of these great causes.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, August 17, at the Wellsville 4th Ward Chapel, 49 W. 200 S. in Wellsville. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 16, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan, and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services on Saturday at the ward building. Interment will be in the Wellsville City Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.allenmortuaries.net
