Brent Bingham

March 5, 1944 — October 16, 2024

North Logan, Utah

Brent Keith Bingham, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on October 16, 2024, at Maple Springs Care Center in North Logan, Utah from complications associated with Lewy Body Dementia. Brent was born on March 5, 1944, in Bremerton, Washington, to Keith and Edna Kruitbosch Bingham. At the age of three, Brent and his mother moved to Ogden, Utah, where they lived with his grandmother, affectionately known as Grandma "Bush." When Brent was five, his mother married Henry V. Ransom, who embraced Brent as his son and became a significant figure in his life.

Brent graduated from Clover Park High School in Tacoma, Washington, before returning to Utah to attend Weber State College, where he pursued his education. It was during this time that he met Judy VanderHeide, his "favorite" girlfriend, whom he married on August 27, 1964, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter.

Brent earned a two-year degree from Weber State and then responded to an announcement that changed his career path forever—he became an air traffic controller. Brent took great pride in his work at the Salt Lake City Center, where he enjoyed a rewarding career and forged lasting friendships.

Brent and Judy raised five sons. Family was the joy of their lives, and they cherished every moment spent together, including the many summer trips to Lake Powell, Snowbird, Pineview Dam, annual wood cutting trips to Island Park and many other adventures. The family resided in Roy, Utah, until 1974, where they formed lifelong friendships before moving to Fruit Heights, Utah, where they lived for nearly 48 years, creating even more cherished memories with great neighbors.

In retirement, Brent and Judy delighted in traveling and embraced the joys of grandparenthood, reveling in the company of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Brent is remembered for his kindness, his unwavering dedication to his family, and his vibrant spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many leadership positions. Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ came naturally to Brent.

Brent is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy; his sons: Darrin Brent (Alivia), Tracy Verl (Jeanine), Neil Vaughn (Jana), Chad S. (Yara) and Joshua Keith (Katie) Bingham; 18 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren – soon to be 6.

A celebration of Brent's life will be held on October 22nd, in the North Logan Memorial Park (2075 E 2500 N, North Logan, UT) at 2:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to gather to share memories and honor a remarkable man. Brent will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
