Bruce Hoppie

January 28, 1942 — February 25, 2010

NORTH LOGAN, Utah- Bruce Hoppie, 68, died peacefully at home, Thursday, February 25, 2010, from complications related to Lung Cancer. He was surrounded by the family that he faithfully provided for and loved. He was born January 28, 1942, in Richmond, Utah to Robert Francis and Cecil Myler Hoppie. He graduated from North Cache High School. He married Rhonda Lynn Olsen, October 4, 1968. They were blessed with three children; Diana Lynn & Taylor Dearden of Layton, David Bruce Hoppie of Logan and Kimberly Ann Hoppie & Kody Rash, fiancé. Bruce also loved his three grandchildren; Carter Bruce, Serena Lynn and Aleeya Cecil Dearden.
Bruce had many friends and was known for his quick wit and humor. Friends and neighbors often sought out Bruce for advice about cars and other fix-it questions. He worked at Logan Manufacturing Company for 28 years servicing snow grooming machines. Classic cars were his passion. He excelled at drag racing and restoring cars. He won many races and show awards; including 1st place for the Black 1957 BelAir at the Classic Chevy Club International: Western Nationals in 1988, receiving a silver certificate for 904 out of 1000 points. Attending car shows provided many wonderful family vacations and cherished memories.
Bruce faithfully supported his wife in many church callings and sent all three of his children on missions to share the gospel. Bruce taught his family the value of hard work and service. His wife and children felt his unconditional love and support.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Rhonda, and his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Janet Hoppie, sister, and half-sibling's Edith Wilson, and Junior Hoppie.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ben-Jacob and his exceptionally caring staff and Alpine Hospice for their loving care.
A viewing will be held Monday night from 6-8 p.m. at the Allen Mortuary of North Logan, , 420 E. 1800 N. North Logan. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the North Logan Second Ward Chapel, 1105 E. 2100 N. with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment is in the North Logan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
