Buford R. McDaniel
Buford Raymond McDaniel passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 in Logan, Utah. He was born in Cheyenne, Oklahoma on November 4, 1922 to Henry Lonzo McDaniel and Florence Rebecca Smith McDaniel. He had three brothers and two sisters.
During WWII, Buford was an airplane engine mechanic in the Army Air Force. He served in Pocatello, Idaho where he met his soon- to- be wife, Helen May Hill. They were married on March 10, 1945 in Texas.
They farmed in Oklahoma where they began their family. It was here that five of their six children were born. In 1957, they moved their family to Malad, Idaho. Here, their last child was born.
Buford was an advocate of learning and was always ready to show his uncanny memory skills as well as his keen mathematical mind. By example, he taught every one of their children to meet challenges head-on and to work hard. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and took every opportunity to enjoy it. He loved taking trips to visit relatives and see the country. His family was very important to him. He will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and fun-loving humor.
He was preceded in death by his wonderful wife, Helen; daughter, Linda (Ron) Scott; brothers, Wallace and Lonzo; and sister, Lillian.
He is survived by children, Kenneth (Annette) McDaniel of Logan, Utah; Thomas (Pam) McDaniel of Hyrum, Utah; Katherine (Ted) Fronk of St. Anthony, Idaho; Rebecca (Don) Olson of Providence, Utah; and Greg McDaniel of Missoula, Montana. He is also survived by a brother, Leo and a sister, Juanita. He was very proud of his 17 loving grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren.
