Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; their daughter Baby Cressall; great-granddaughter Aspen Cressall; his parents George and Cora, and Calvin’s brothers and sisters, Clyde, Adrian, Mary, Coraleen, and Lyle.
Calvin is survived by his four sons: Craig (Carolyn), Paul (Karine), Don (Pamela), Scott (Jolene). 22 grandchildren and 53 Great-grandchildren.
Calvin was born in his parents home in Springdale, Idaho on September 28th, 1929 to George and Cora Cressall. Calvin grew up with his family moving several times and finally settling in Logan Utah. He met and later married Elizabeth Luthy on Sept 4, 1948. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple.
Calvin was a hard worker who learned quickly and expected perfection from himself in everything he did. He served in the Korean War in the artillery and received numerous commendations for his crew’s efficiency and accuracy. He was later wounded and received the Purple Heart Medal along with two Bronze service stars.
Calvin learned to be an expert craftsman who took pride in everything he built. He became a building contractor specializing in home construction and remodeling. He was well known for his care and fairness with all those he associated with and worked for.
Calvin made many special wood creations from his lathe, which was admired by all. He also took up painting canyon scenes and creating beautiful decorations from tree roots and branches which he found.
Cal and Betty loved the outdoors and spent time at their cabin in the canyon enjoying the wildlife and beautiful scenery. It was also a favorite gathering place for their family.
Calvin and Elizabeth were always planning get-togethers with their children and grandchildren. All felt like they were extra special and enjoyed the games, food, and special candy treats which Elizabeth was an expert at making. Together they created a fun and special time for numerous holiday and family gatherings.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Calvin served with the youth where he had a special talent of relating to and helping influence many he worked with. He also served as a home teacher, councilor in the bishopric, Bishop, and high councilor. His time as bishop was most memorable as he counseled and helped many of his ward return to activity and receive the blessing of the temple. He was always willing to serve at a moments notice and to help anyone in need.
We love you and will all miss you, but we will treasure the many memories you created for us to remember you by.
