Our beautiful wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Cara Larsen Congdon, age 41, has passed from this life but remains close to our hearts forever. While on vacation in the Caribbean with her husband, three children, and her parents, Cara became critically ill and passed away peacefully a few days later in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on February 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 29, 1983 to loving parents Gary and Sharon Larsen, she was the youngest of four children. Growing up in Millville, Utah, she kept her parents on their toes, with her mischievous antics, including a particular fondness for prank calling 911. Her childhood is filled with stories that still bring laughter to this day.

Cara married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Bryan Congdon, on September 22, 2006. They built a beautiful life together. They have three amazing children, Baylee (14), Daxton (13), and Maddox (10). Bryan and their kids were her entire world. She was a devoted mother, fiercely loyal to her family, and her kids' biggest cheerleader. She was always busy shuttling her kids to various school, church and sport activities all the while, planning their next big adventure. They loved camping, going to Lagoon, swimming, boating at Lake Powell, 80’s movie nights, jamming out to music, playing games and just loving life. She coached Baylee’s softball team for many years and was an assistant coach for Daxton and Maddox’s flag football and baseball teams. Her sisters often teased her about never being home on weekends to 'adult,' as she preferred fun-filled weekends over boring housework and laundry. Her focus was on creating memories rather than collecting things. Bryan and Cara emphasized family first, spending time together was their top priority, creating memories to last a lifetime.

Cara was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in Young Women’s, Relief Society, Primary, and Nursery. She especially loved working with the children and youth. She had a testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ and radiated light and love to all who knew her. She was kind to everyone, withheld judgment and was intentional about including others.

For the past several years, Cara worked for Cache County School District. Most recently, as an aide working with special needs preschool children at Nibley Elementary. She also spent years as an in-home daycare provider, leaving a lasting impression on the children she loved so much. She also took on other various side jobs to help fund their grand adventures.

A viewing will be held from 6-8pm on Wednesday, February 26, at Allen-Hall Mortuary, located at 34 East Center Street in Logan. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 27 at 11:00 am. Services will be held at the LDS Church on 130 West 2600 South in Nibley, UT. There will be an additional viewing prior to the funeral services from 9:30–10:30 am.

Cara is preceded in death by her grandparents Mary and Ariel Larsen and LuDean and Wanda Balls (“Granny Bird”). She is survived by her loving husband, Bryan, children Baylee, Daxton, and Maddox, her parents, Gary and Sharon Larsen of Lewiston, UT, siblings Heather (Lance) Postma of Nibley, UT, Nathan (Melissa) Larsen of Fond du Lac, WI, Meagan (Howard) Nelson of Lewiston, UT, Brett and Connie Congdon of Smithfield, UT, Kelsie (Joe) Merritt of Ashton ID, Taneesa (Jessica) Congdon Nielson of Rock Springs, WY, and their extended family, along with many other relatives who love her very much.

President Russel M. Nelson taught us that “Mourning is one of the deepest expressions of pure love. We can’t fully appreciate joyful reunions later without tearful separations now. The only way to take sorrow out of death is to take love out of life.”
