Carl Ellis Jensen, 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, August 11, 2006 at his home. He served his country in the army during World War II from 1942 to 1945 in Germany. He was part of the 750th tank Battalion that participated in the battle of the bulge and was one of the first to enter Cologne, Germany as the war was coming to an end. After his honorable discharge he went to work for his brother-in-law on a large ranch outside of Arimo, Idaho. While working at the ranch he met Rayola Jenkins his wife to be. They were married on December 10, 1946.
In 1951 he went to work for Parson and Fife Construction in Brigham City, UT. In 1952 Parson and Fife became separate companies. Carl decided to work with Jack Parson in Smithfield, Utah. He worked for the Jack B. Parson Construction Co. for the next 34 years, transporting equipment to job sites in the Western United States. His efforts helped to build a large portion of the interstate highway system in Utah, Idaho and Nevada. He retired in 1986. It has been said Carl had as many friends as the miles he had driven.
Carl enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers and sons. His children and grandchildren have wonderful memories of camping and picnicking with him.
He was very proud of his family and loved them very much. A better man would be hard to find. He is survived by his wife, Rayola, of Logan, two sons, Carl Ray (Annette) of Providence, Chuck (Kristi), of Smithfield, two daughters, Joy (Ralph) Hunt of Portland, Oregon, Jacque (John) Crossman of Wellsville. He has 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Luann, his Mother and Father, as well as 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center in Logan. A viewing will be held at the mortuary on Monday, August 14, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at the cemetery in Arimo, Idaho at 3:30 p.m. on August 15. Condolences may be extended to the family online at:
