Carol Jean Kemp
“a very classy lady”
LOGAN – Carol Jean Kemp, 69, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 14, 2015 from complications arising from the final stages of Lewy Body Dementia.
Carol was born in Logan, Utah, to Lynn August and Anna Laura Nelson Skabelund. She married Val Harry Kemp on June 29, 1965 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Carol was a graduate of Logan High School. She was a tireless and wonderful Wife, Mother, Sister, Daughter and Friend and spent her time in the service of her family and friends. She was active in her LDS faith and found great joy in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She held her family close and worked tirelessly to keep her four boys from getting into too much trouble.
She is survived by Val; her sons Timothy, Rourk (Tisha), Jeremy (April) & Benjamin (Brittney); her grandchildren Gavin, Lydia, Adam and BentLee; her sister Lynda (Melvyn) Sadler; her brother Craig (Debbie) Skabelund; her brother’s-in-law John (Jean) Kemp, David (Judie) Kemp; her sister-in-law Ann (Ray) Briscoe; and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her parents-in-law Harry and Ruby Kemp.
The family would like to express its deepest appreciation to Val, who tirelessly and tenderly cared for Carol during the final few years of her life; to the world’s greatest visiting teacher and her family – who have reminded us of true service; to the many fabulous staff of Sunshine Home Health and Hospice; and to the many family members, friends and neighbors who would drop by and visit and serve.
A viewing will be held on Monday, August 17th from 6 to 8 pm and the funeral service will be Tuesday August 18th at 11 am at the the Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan. Condolences and memories may be shared online at
