Carol Larsen

March 29, 1938 — November 18, 2024

Carol Ann Larsen was born in Logan, Utah on March 29th, 1938 to Newman and Mourine Harris. She died from a sudden illness in Logan, Utah on November 18th, 2024 at the age of 86.

Carol supported and loved her siblings, Joan, Lynn, and Dale.

She worked very hard in high school to learn shorthand and typing. These skills were put to good use at her jobs at UCLA, the Utah Capitol Building, and Thiokol.

Fred Larsen met Carol on USU Campus and asked Carol to marry him almost immediately. She told him she needed more time. Later, he skipped the asking and told Carol they were getting married and gave her a beautiful ring as they were driving through Sardine Canyon. It worked; they were happily married 66 years. Carol and Fred were the perfect couple. Although they had different interests, they supported each other unwaveringly. At night they enjoyed sitting and watching television together, albeit on two separate, giant television sets. Fred would assist Carol with her shopping; she would watch Fred’s shooting competitions and softball games. They always went out to eat for lunch. They truly were inseparable.

Chris and Mark were born and became the focus of Carol’s life. They had an idyllic childhood thanks to Carol and Fred. The bond between Carol and her children was only strengthened as they grew older. Not only was she the perfect Mum, but also their best friend. This small family swelled to six grandchildren who were also blessed by Carol’s goodness. She never failed to make things special for them including giving small gifts to all the children on anyone’s birthday, cookies at family night, playing UNO, Sorry, and SkipBo, and taking the family on vacations to Disneyland and Yellowstone in the motorhome. Eventually twelve great-grandchildren came and were also wrapped into Carol’s loving care and her noteworthy abilities as a baby charmer.

Carol loved her potted flowers and was known for her floral paintings. For many years she owned and operated her own business selling her hand-painted florals; Fred partnered with her in this endeavor with his great woodworking and marketing skills.

She was also a scrap-booker and made lovely cards for birthdays. She was an expert seamstress, a graceful swimmer, and an avid Turner Classic Movies fan. She was a wonderful cook and made the best chocolate malts.

Friends were an important part of Carol’s life. She was blessed to have wonderful friends that she really looked forward to spending time with each month, including “Club,” “The Girls,” and many other close friends.

Carol genuinely loved those around her. Her endless supply of Kleenexes in her pocket were always ready for anyone who needed them. She shared in the sorrows, the joys, and the fun of every family member. Her steady, happy demeanor is a quiet testimony of her faith in her Savior’s plan of salvation. She is missed bitterly by those who have survived her (her husband, Fred Larsen; her daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Andy Little; her daughter-in-law, Jenn Larsen; her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren), but knowing she is reunited with her loved ones who preceded her in death (her parents, her siblings, and her beloved son, Mark Larsen) brings comfort.

Per Carol’s wishes, only a private graveside service will be held.

We extend a special thank you to the staff at Logan Regional Hospital and to the many friends and family who have supported Carol and her family through this difficult time.
