Carole Sue Checketts Applegarth
1937---2010
Carole Sue Checketts Applegarth was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and special friend to many. Carole was born in Ogden, Utah on October 25, 1937 to Willard (Bill) Glen and Mina Susan Brown Checketts. She died peacefully in Murray, Utah of natural causes on September 17, 2010. She lived her early life in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High. She married her high school sweetheart and best friend, Alan Glen Applegarth, on October 28, 1954 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with two children, to whom Carole dedicated her life.
Her chosen profession was motherhood and homemaking; she also had several other jobs during her life. She worked at Walker Bank as a teller and then at Utah State University Carousel Square food services as an administrative assistant.
Carole was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various church positions throughout her life. She enjoyed serving others and spent many hours volunteering at the Logan Regional Hospital where she was the director of volunteers.
Carole loved to spend time with people. She enjoyed being surrounded by her friends, family, and loved ones as often as possible and they loved being with her. She filled their hearts with laughter and their stomachs with chocolate. Flowers were her passion especially the roses from her mother’s garden. She was a patient listener, a faithful advisor and an amazing example of faith and perseverance exemplifying great trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. She handled the difficulties in her life with grace, dignity and a cheerful positive attitude.
Carole is survived by her husband , a meticulous loving care giver, Alan Glen Applegarth of Providence, Utah, and her two children, Mark Alan (Shauna) Applegarth of Omaha, Nebraska and Shauna Sue (Val) Jensen of Santaquin, Utah, and her brothers W. Craig (Glenda) Checketts of Bountiful, Utah, and Alan G. (Reylyn) Checketts of Eagleville, Pennsylvania, 11 grandchildren, Daniel (Heidi) Applegarth , Keresa (Shane) Walker, Valishia (Steven) Hawkins, Kirsten (Stephan) Taeger, Anjillica (Adam) Navarro, Katelynd (Benjamin) Blake, Braydon Jensen, David Applegarth, Myriah Jensen, Shanelle Applegarth, Shaunese Jensen, and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Gloria Gay Checketts Cummins.
There will be a viewing held at Allen-Hall Mortuary 34 E. Center Street Logan, Utah from 6-8 PM on Monday September 20, 2010 and at the church on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to the services. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 11 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 155 N 100 E Providence, Utah. Interment will be in the Ogden City Cemetery.
