Cecil Orlando Balls, 77, was born April 6, 1933 in Logan, Utah to Orlando and Elsa Atkinson Balls. Cecil passed away on October 16, 2010, his 58th wedding anniversary. Cecil grew up in Hyde Park, living there his entire life. Cecil married Mary Perkes on October 16, 1952 in the Logan LDS Temple. Cecil and Mary had four children, Bonnie, Randy (Marsha), Alan (Susan), and Peggy (Bart) Ashby. Cecil loved his family.
Cecil made many friends through his employment. He drove a milk truck, a gas truck and worked for USU Vending for many years servicing the machines. He had a love for animals. He always had a variety of birds and rabbits. If he didn’t have what someone wanted, he knew where he could get it for them. He cared about others and helping them find the things they needed. He was director of the Cache County chicken show for many years.
Cecil enjoyed camping with Mary. He love to go pheasant and deer hunting with his boys. Cecil had many hobbies. He was very creative with rocks, making many beautiful pieces of jewelry or home décor. He loved to go hunting for rocks and attend gem and mineral shows.
Cecil loved working in the scouting program. He served in three High Priests Group leadership positions. He is survived by his wife, Mary, his children, 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren with 2 on the way. He is also survived by sisters, Gloria (Charles) Whipple, Ruth (Jess) Malmberg and Carol (Ken) Eames.
A viewing will be held at the Allen Hall Mortuary at 34 East Center in Logan on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Hyde Park 4th Ward Building, 465 North 100 West, Hyde Park. Funeral Services will be held October 20, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Hyde Park 4th Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Hyde Park Cemetery.
