Charlotte M. Nixon

June 16, 1928 — November 24, 2012

HYDE PARK - Charlotte Macdonald Nixon, 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday November 24, 2012 after spending Thanksgiving surrounded by her loved ones.
Born into humble beginnings in Colonia Dublan, Mexico to Caroline Melinda Butler and Byron VanCott Macdonald on June 16, 1928. She was the youngest of nine children and had eight older brothers who adored her. She attended BYU and served in the Spanish American mission where she also met her future husband, Jack. They were married in the Mesa, Arizona Temple on December 18, 1953.
Charlotte had many passions in her life and was loved by everyone that knew her. Her 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren were her pride and joy and her first calling in life. Second only to her posterity was her joy for travel. She was most happy at 30,000 feet on her way to her next destination. She is now on her final cruise in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and will anxiously await her family to join her in future wonderful adventures.
She loved her association with friends, especially her beloved Dinner Club and the "Knitters." If there was a party going on, Charlotte wanted to be there and everyone wanted to talk to her. She was an avid supporter of Utah State University, particularly of Aggie Athletics. She was a fixture for many decades at Aggie basketball games and we will miss seeing her in her usual seat. She and her husband Jack are members of the Old Main Society and were inducted into the Alumni Hall of Honor.
Charlotte was a masterful cook and loved to entertain family and friends. In her early days living in Mexico she learned how to cook Mexican food and is famous for her enchiladas. She was intellectually gifted and as an avid reader was self-educated and loved helping all her children through their educational endeavors. She dragged her three boys across the finish line to earn their Eagle Scout awards. She was actively involved in her daughters' and granddaughters' dancing careers and recitals and loved travelling with them to dance events out of state.
She was a devoted member of the LDS Church and her favorite calling was that of a teacher. She loved studying her family history and was proud of her Scottish heritage.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, her eight brothers, Byron, Van, Keith, Oden, John, Findley, Scott and Ross, and her first two children, Race Macdonald and Nadine, who died at birth. She is survived by her devoted husband Jack, who has been so good to care for her these past few years as Charlotte's health has declined. He has been a loving and patient caregiver. She is also survived by her five children, Ruelinda, Tres, Scott (Shiree), Daniel (Kathy) and Shanna Knowles (Darrin).
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 30 at the Hyde Park Utah Stake Center, 535 E 200 S in Hyde Park. A viewing will be held Thursday evening, Nov. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E Center, Logan, and at the church on Friday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at the Hyde Park Cemetery. Condolences and thoughts may be expressed to the family online at http://www.allenmortuaries.net/ .
